Recruitment for Performance Director
OBJECTIVE
Source a candidate with a high level of expertise and experience who fits with the culture and values of WCCC.
PROJECT SUMMARY
After an unsuccessful process with another recruitment agency, WCCC appointed KinseySears – experts in recruiting high performance leadership roles in sport – to appoint their Performance Director.
KinseySears conducted a global mapping exercise for male and female candidates in International, First-Class and franchise cricket and other sports where candidates had the appropriate skills and experience and met the WCCC role criteria.
Due to KinseySears’ knowledge, networks and expertise in cricket, the scale of outreach and interest in the role far exceeded any other search project WCCC has previously experienced. From this outreach, KinseySears filtered the prospects and interviewed each suitable candidate to produce a shortlist for WCCC.
KinseySears worked with the Club’s leadership and selection panel throughout the selection process including conducting psychometric evaluation of the shortlisted candidates and supporting the offer management and on-boarding process including providing executive coaching support to the successful candidate.
OUTCOMES
- Gavin Larsen, former New Zealand international cricketer and Head of National Selectors, was appointed.
- Once in post, KinseySears conducted a personal one-on-one coaching session with Gavin to check in on his progress at the Club and offer executive leadership support for his new leadership position.
- Chief Executive Stuart Cain and Chair Mark McCafferty were delighted with the comprehensive process and support and what has turned out to be a highly successful appointment.
